Directions:
- Add all ingredients for sauce into a small saucepan
- Simmer for at least 1 hour
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix yeast, honey and water
- Let sit 10 minutes. (This will create a foam on the top of the mixture. If this does not happen, your yeast was dead or your water was too hot)
- After 10 minutes, add oil and stir
- While yeast is activating, add flour and salt into a large bowl
- Pour yeast/water mixture into flour bowl
- Stir with a spoon
- When incorporated, pour onto a well floured surface and start to kneed (about 5 minutes)
- Place dough in a large greased bowl
- Cover with a clean towel and place in warm, dry place. (Your oven is good )
- Let dough rise for 1 hour
- When done rising, pat dough down and roll out with rolling pin
- Place on a baking brick or pizza pan
- Roll edges of dough to form the crust
- Add 1 cup of sauce to crust and spread with a spoon
- Sprinkle with a generous amount of mozzarella cheese and toppings as desired
- Bake at 425º for 20-25 minutes
- Remove from oven and brush the crust with butter wash
People often call me up and say, “If I bring all the ingredients, will you make pizza?” I always say yes, but it’s really not that hard to do. I think they just miss my company!
